You’re Nut Alone
Naming and visual identity for NutAlone
NutAlone.com is a digital platform enabling the easy distribution and viewing of indie films. They aim to ‘fill in the gaps’ and reveal hidden European film treasures to everyone. The platform was launched in 2019, and we helped in both the naming process and the creation of their bold new visual identity.

Project details
Small indie movies are not always accessible to the general public. For a movie maker, it can be challenging to distribute their movie to the right audience, and for the viewer it can be difficult to gain access to these movies. NutAlone is a game-changer, as they have a Digital Rights Management system which allows rights holders to easily select territories in which a new title should be available, along with a host system which enables any website or media outlet to make titles easily available on the platform.
The task was to create a name, communication concept and a new visual identity for this innovative new online platform. Furthermore, there was a need for a community mindset – creating an awareness of the fact that “You are Nut Alone” – no matter if you are a distributor or simply just a movie nut with an interest in indie movies.
The solution became a communication concept evolving around the “nut” – in the name NutAlone, the tagline “You are NutAlone”, and in the symbol which also functions as a character in the entire identity. The nut draws a straight line to the ‘movie nut’, and hereby helps the platform to create a sense of community feeling. The nut is both used in still images and easily animated to bring in the ‘motion’ we know and love from the world of movies.
The visual identity and the chosen typography have a strong reference to the cinematic universe and to moviemakers such as Quentin Tarantino and Woody Allen. The identity is rather bold in its expression and draws on the artistic freedom and challenging approach seen in independent movies.

The logo/character: The “Nuts” symbolizes the filmmakers and movie lovers that are nuts about independent films.

Communication concept: The logo becomes an active part of the messaging that unites the various nuts.

5th element: A range of graphic energy elements empowers the nuts to express their courage, passion and the artistic approach.
